About Penny Labs

Software you can run on your terms

We build self-hostable tools for anyone, from one person building alone to organizations running critical systems. You should be able to choose where your software runs and stay in control of your own data.

We started Penny Labs after seeing the same pattern over and over: useful software was easy to adopt and hard to own.

PennyOS and Openchat are built for people who want clear control without extra ceremony.

Self-hosting should feel practical, not painful. Our job is to make important infrastructure choices understandable and doable.

Copr, our companion

Copr keeps us honest

Copr reminds us to stay curious and stay useful. If we cannot explain a choice simply, we are not done with the work.

Principles

What we commit to in every release

These are the standards we use when deciding what to build, what to cut, and what to refine.

Practical by Design
If a feature does not reduce real friction, it does not ship.
Open and Inspectable
We prefer open foundations and clear docs so you can see how your system actually works.
Ownership That Lasts
Start quickly now without giving up the ability to run, move, or extend your stack later.
